Tempur-Med was created for the clinical setting. Physically, the mattresses are cut to a variety of standard
medical bed frames. Tempur-Med is also thinner, to match the flexibility requirements of many healthcare
settings.
The Tempur-Med Medical Bed further differentiates itself from the well-known Tempur-Pedic® consumer division. Tempur-Med mattresses utilize the Enhanced Pressure Management System designed to
facilitate the prevention and treatment of pressure-related medical problems. This system is the result of the
interaction between the substrate and the TEMPUR® material, which enhances the medical properties of the
mattress.
The pressure-reducing system of Tempur-Med protects bony prominences by surrounding them and reducing
contact area by absorbing and redistributing pressure across the entire surface area. The molding of the
material to the body reduces friction and pressure peaks, improves blood flow, and reduces the potential for
skin breakdown.
